Appointment of Interim Chairman and Secretary

Dear HI Community members,

This is to confirm that Prof Liong Shie-Yui was appointed Chairman and Prof. Dragan Savic was appointed Secretary, with immediate effect, of the joint IAHR-IWA-IAHS Hydroinformatics Committee for a term of office until the next Hydroinformatics Conference in September 2010. Given the absence of formally adopted Committee Bylaws, I make this appointment on behalf of the IAHR Council as an urgent measure with the full backing of IAHS and IWA.

Prof. Liong and Prof. Savic are charged with:

1. Preparing new draft Bylaws for the Joint Committee (including a process for electing new Committee Officers) in consultation with the three parent bodies;

2. Presenting proposed Bylaws at the Vancouver Committee meeting in August for discussion and approval by the HI community;

3. Obtaining approval of the Bylaws by the parent bodies and making preparations for electing a new committee (according to the newly-approved procedures) - to be in place on or before the Tianjin HI Conference;

4. Supporting the Tianjin LOC in preparations for the Hydroinformatics Conference;
