According to the German magazine Der Spiegel, "Biologists, epidemiologists and disaster control experts are discovering Google Earth as a powerful tool in their work. The success of the digital globe has reawakened interest in computer mapping models."

Announcement: International Symposium on Environmental Software Systems 2007

ISESS 2007 is part of a series organized by IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing) Working Group 5.11 “Computers and Environment”. The purpose of the symposium is to present and discuss the progress and trends in Enviromatics, which is operationally defined as the application of information technology to environmental science, engineering, and management.
