Over the years, it has also evolved into an important networking tool for academics, environmental professionals, and other interested parties.

ISESS 2007 is part of a series organized by IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing) Working Group 5.11 “Computers and Environment”.  The purpose of the symposium is to present and discuss the progress and trends in Enviromatics, which is operationally defined as the application of information technology to environmental science, engineering, and management.

Call for Papers

We welcome submissions from researchers and practitioners. Submissions may have a focus on applied work, advances in theory or both and should fall within one of the following sessions:

  • Open Source GIS and Environmental Modeling Systems
  • Software Tools and Component-Based Environmental Modelling
  • Integrated Modelling and Decision Support Systems for Watershed and Lake Management – Design and Application
  • Ontologies for Knowledge Representation and Reasoning in Environmental Information Systems (Onto/EIS)
  • Human Factors in Enviromatics
  • Artificial and Computational Intelligence for Environmental Modelling
  • Next Generation of Environmental Information and Risk Management Systems (EIS/RMS)
  • Distributed and Parallel Environmental Modelling Paradigms
New to ISESS 2007 – PhD Student Stream

Details for each session and session chairs can be found on the ISESS web site.

Typically ISESS runs 20 minute presentations with 10 minutes for discussion.  Manuscripts submitted for final inclusion in the conference should be 8-10 pages in length and must adhere strictly to the conference paper formatting guidelines (available on the ISESS web site).  The paper must include an abstract of approximately 300 words, mailing address and email address of the principal author and one other contact.  Each submission must clearly indicate which category applies.  At least one registration is required for EACH accepted paper.  Authors must be registered for the conference at the time they submit the final version of their paper.
